Casey Joel StonerĀ (born 16 October 1985 inĀ Kurri Kurri,Ā New South Wales,Ā Australia) is an Australian professionalĀ motorcycle racer, best known for being a two-timeĀ MotoGPā„¢ World Champion, inĀ 2007Ā andĀ 2011. Born in Kurri Kurri, New South Wales, Australia and raised inĀ Southport, Queensland, Stoner raced from a young age and moved to theĀ United KingdomĀ to pursue a racing career. After first competing internationally in 2002, Stoner becameĀ MotoGPā„¢ World ChampionĀ inĀ 2007Ā forĀ Ducati CorseĀ and won a second world championship title inĀ 2011Ā forĀ Repsol Honda. Prior to theĀ 2012 French Grand Prix, Stoner announced that he would retire from Grand Prix racing at the conclusion of theĀ 2012Ā season.
