Biography

Jay Shurey is an acclaimed film producer, screenwriter and the founding director of JQS Films. After many years being part of the arts charity Company Paradiso producing radio drama for the BBC, Jay transitioned toward film producing, debuting with the action-adventure feature Young Hunters: The Beast of Bevendean (2013). Following a handful of short film productions including the multi-award winning psychological thriller Betrayed (2022), Jay returned to long-form filmmaking with feature-length thrillers The Caller (2023), High Water (2023), Good Neighbours (2024) and The Cellar (2024).

In addition to pursuing his productions, Jay's passionate advocacy for education led him to establish JQS Learning and JQS Rocks in 2019 and 2024 respectively to foster and celebrate the next generation of young filmmakers through online mentorship and training. Jay can regularly been heard across many audio dramas too, primarily as the voice of Emmil Scott in the D&D podcast series The Lucky Die.
