Biography

Na’eema El Soghayar was born in Alexandria on the 31st of December, 1931. Her full name is Na’eema ‘Abd Al Maguid ‘Abd Al Gawad and she started out as a monologist performing next to her husband Mohamed El Soghayar before both worked together in Ibrahim Hamouda and Isma’il Yassin’s troupe. After her husband passed away, Na’eema transitioned to cinema where she portrayed the role of the cruel mother at times and the role of the cautious mother at other times. Amongst her most famous roles was a part in “al-Shaqa men Haqq al-Zawgah” (“The Wife Holds the Right to the Flat”).

Na’eema devoted herself to cinema works and did not seek stage or television performances as vigorously.
