Biography

Toby is a filmmaker from South London. He is passionate about making intimate, character driven stories with a social commentary. Throughout his teenage years, Toby performed as an MC on the UK Garage music scene. He then went onto study acting at RADA and has performed extensively on stage and screen. He co-wrote and played the title role in the critically acclaimed play, FOG, published by Methuen Drama. His BFI Network short, HELD, enjoyed a successful festival run before premiering online with Director's Notes in 2024. The story, based on Tobyโ€™s own experience, explored the psychological effects of knife crime and the shame of victimhood. Toby was selected as a Film London Lodestar and shortlisted for a 1.4 Award in 2023, for his work on the film.

He is currently developing his debut feature, CARNATIONS, with Joi Productions and Sona Films. The film is inspired by his time teaching at Bronzefield womenโ€™s prison.
