He was a writer and actor, known for The Amos 'n Andy Show (1951), Calvin and the Colonel (1961) and Check and Double Check (1930). He was married to Alyce Mercedes McLaughlin. He died of a heart attack on September 26, 1972 in Chicago, Illinois.
